Unplugging boot drive ssd

So i was wondering if its safe to unplug my boot drive ssd to clean up my wires inside my case, the other day when i did this when turned the PC back on it said "BOOTMRG missing" so had to reinstall windows 7 onto the ssd, and wondering if it will happen again?

That's not a normal thing that should happen (bootmgr missing).

Shut down the PC completely, unplug the power. go to town...

Just plug into the same sata cable afterwards.
