No, a repeater can only work with the signal at the location where it is placed and would actually cut your bandwidth unless you used an expensive multichannel device.
Which hotel chain? Most that only have free access in the lobby and common areas have free Internet for frequent guests. And if this is really an issue you must travel often like me.
On a few occasions I've just used my phone as a hotspot but of course you need a good data plan for doing that.
