I've just completed a new build, and I cant for the life of my figure out this DRAM issue.

Upon turning on my newly built PC, the DRAM LED lights up for ~5 seconds, and then turns off. The fans, lights, and all of the other bells and whistles are going, but no video displays.

Occasionally, when I boot up the computer, the CPU LED flashes once briefly, and then the DRAM LED lights up for its usual 5 seconds afterwards. The CPU LED also flashes once upon shutting down the PC as well.

I've tried loosening the screws on the CPU fan, as well as the Mobo standoffs, different RAM slots, using a single stick of RAM etc. I'm tempted to just RMA the Mobo, but I'd like to know if there are any alternatives out there.

Heres my part list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/H8YX3F

I feel that its also worth mentioning that the JPWR2 slot (CPU power) is an 8 pin, but the only cable I could get to fit was one half of a 2 x 4 pin connector. I'm aware this could very well be the issue, but I'm hesitant, as there are no other power cables that fit the bill in the PSU bag.

Will update if solved.

Solution
Figured it out. Its my own fault (as these things usually are). The z170a requires a BIOS update in order to run the 7th gen Intel processors. Returned the 170 and picked up a 270 instead, and everything is working as intended.
