Ok i just bought a 4th gen build for $100.

Pentium g3258
msi h81
8gb 1600 ram

I have a intel 4570t cpu.... Im torn between which one to use . any help would be greatly appreciated,

Also it will be used for mainly gaming and maybe a little streaming of low end games until i get a 4690k or something.

Solution
Overclocking is the issue.
The PROBLEM to start however is that while the CPU is theoretically overclockable the G3258 might be disabled with a BIOS update or even just a Windows update (yep, Windows can actually drop in an Intel fix to disable the overclock even if the BIOS managed it).

The G3258 is still only a dual-core CPU so it would only benefit games that mostly use only two cores well, and only if the overclock is enough to justify.

Non-OC Single thread:
?? PASSMARK must be wrong. It says the Max Turbo for the i5 is 3.6GHz so it would run under load about 3.4GHz. The G3258 is 3.2GHz yet they show the G3258 winning SINGLE THREAD by 10%?

not likely.

I can't give reliable, exact comparisons but i highly DOUBT there are many...
