I have 16GB (2x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz RAM but it will not run at 3200Mhz. It runs fine at 3000Mhz, but when i set it to 3200Mhz the pc wont POST and the DRAM LED stays lit. I'm not too worried as the perfomance increase from the extra 200Mhz is probably negligible, but just curious about this issue?

well you could test that theory and unplug the psu again and anmd see if setting are gone again, that would point at the need for a new battery, if it keep it setting with PSu plugged in and not when not plugged in. the battery is what keeps it kept in place... batteries fail the same as anything else in life, who knows how long they have had this battery in stock... its not any special device, they buy them by the thousands for all their products.. could of been at bottom of a bin for years before it was used.

My CPU (i7 6700k) is overclocked to 4.5Ghz and my motherboard supports RAM up to 3466Mhz

It can be down to a lack of voltage to the memory.
You could try to enter the bios of your motherboard, and enter the advanced bios mode.
And try raising the voltage fed to the memory sticks by around 0.250Mv or 0.500Mv Matt to see if it gets the system to post.

I just had my pc unplugged for a few minutes the other day to clean/dust it out like i normally do weekly, and in the process the BIOS reset itself, so i went back into BIOS and re-entered all my overclock settings and loaded up the XMP profile for 3200MHz and it worked. So now its running fine at 3200MHZ. I dont know what changed, but I guess its fixed now :)

It's a brand new motherboard? I just got it in November? Battery shouldn't die in 3 months?
