Hi all,

I am currently building a new system, and am after some advice on what parts to get.

I have so far decided on :

Mobo - Asus ROG Hero viii Alpha

CPU - Skylake i7-6700k

RAM - G Skill Trident Z 16GB 3000

Now I am stuck as regards cooler / psu / case and graphics card.

I am looking at Cryorig H7 for cooling (any other suggestions appreciated), primarily for RAM clearance - possibly going for Kraken X62 in the future.

Cases I have narrowed down to Thermaltake X31 RGB / Zalman Z11 plus HF1 / S340 Elite.

Graphics I am edging towards a GTX1060, and finally - the biggest problem - PSU which I am looking at either EVGA supernova 550w or 650w G2/3.

Can anyone foresee any potential problems with the above or maybe offer suggestions for the parts I am having difficulty with.

Many thanks.

Okay, build is entered into PCPartPicker below.

You know, for the cost of the Cryorig H7 I would instead go for the Cooler Master Seidon 120V. I like the fact that liquid coolers have active heat transport to the periphery of the system.

Of the three cases I like the S340 the best, has the most room for video cards with extra room for air flow.

Finally, the G2 or G3 are good PSU's, I would go for the 650W to give a little breathing room for overclocking. The 550W could do it but then you might be operating a lot above the sweet spot for PSU's (50-75% of rated load). An alternate PSU might be the FSP Group Hydro G 650W. Both the EVGA and the FSP are tier one PSU's...

This set up looks good, just a quick question is there any particular reason you're going with the i7 6700 rather than the 7700? with only £30 separating them it seems silly to choose the older architecture.

well... architecture is the same, IPC is the same, the 7700 is nothing else than a 6700 with factory overclock
but yeah, when you got the cash to go for a Hero Alpha, you can go 7700k + Z270 Strix board + Cryorig H5 Universal (to tame the beast)
