Time to wipe a hard drive?

I have a hp pavilion laptop with 700gb hard drive and at this moment reinstalling windows on it, The problem is it has been erasing data since 11:30pm last night its 10:17 and its stuck at 99% The hard drive was full when i decided to start this process. I know that this amount of time is normal just wondering at which point i should be concerned

Agree, time to restart.

But, before you do, I highly recommend that you replace the hard drive with a SSD and do your clean install there.
A SSD will transform the performance of your laptop.
Samsung EVO would be my pick for performance and reliability.

Reuse the HDD later for backup storage.

it should only take a few seconds to delete 700gb? its a laptop so i selected the only disk avalible and chose to keep nothing, i dont know if it helps but i have ran a command prompt check disk numerous times before and it always got stuck at 11% but after 15 hours or so it would finish up
