I have a 4790k and I'm going to switch cases along with graphics card and I want to add more ram by since my motherboard is a micro one it only has 1 slot for ram.

well since your have an unlocked CPU , there are several ways you can do this. will you overclock or intend in the future to overclocking you system, if the answer is yes then a Z board will be needed. as example below. shown with 16gb ram for it. taking only 2slot out of 4 in case later you decide to get another 16gb for it.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-E/USB3.1 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($122.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($94.99 @ Corsair)
Total: $217.98

mind you there are cheaper alternatives. such as;

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($86.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Mushkin Silverline 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($89.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $176.88

And if you have no intentions of overclocking you could go with ;

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($62.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Mushkin Silverline 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($89.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $152.77

and the rock bottom budget upgrade;

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $0.00)
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($42.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1066 Memory ($60.60 @ Newegg)
Total: $103.48

I don't plan to over click in the future so I wouldn't need a Z board but I was thinking an Asus Maximus vii since I will be going for a kid to full tower case.
