I was looing at purchasing an
ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard and a
Intel Core i7-6950X 3.0GHz 10-Core Processor, and it came up with the message that i might need a BIOS update, i was just wondering if these 2 would be compatable without an update, but also if i would have to do an update, where/how would i go about doing it, and would i need a different CPU just to be able to do the BIOS update.

Thanks

It will depend how long the specific board you get has been sitting around. The t950X requires BIOS 3.00 according to the website -- http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20X99X%20Killer/?cat=CPU That BIOS was released in April of 16 -- http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20X99X%20Killer/?cat=Download&os=BIOS That board has BIOS versions that go all the way back to '14. So if you get a board that has been sitting on a shelf for a year, you may have to do an update. There is no way to predict.
