Recently my NetGear WiFi extender has been acting up a lot. I have it connected to my desktop which is how the desktop gets internet, because it doesn't have built in WiFi, and my house isn't wired with Ethernet. The problem is that sometimes when i turn my PC on, it says unidentified network or no connections available. This happens randomly on startup and the only way I found of fixing it was turning the extender off and then back on, then after a minute or two it will be fine.
why does this happen and is there a permanent solution?

You should have the wireless range extender running all the time.
how far away is the router from the extender?
you could also try using a different ethernet cable (cat 5e or higher)
As your using a wireless extender i would recommend using a different SSID as your router or its just going to talk all over your router.

to answer your questions;
it stays on all the time, even when i turn off my computer.
it is right above the router.
I'm pretty sure it is a cat5e cable.
It has a different SSID than the router, if I' right about what that is.
