[SOLVED] Windows 7 HTPC sparatically dropping audio when connected TV turns off or input switched to another device.

I have built an HTPC running windows 7 with the primary purpose being a home server and to run windows media center.

The motherboard is an:
MSI Z170A ZPower Gaming Titanium Edition

I have a 4x4 HDMI Matrix: View HD

The problem...
Sporadically, (does not happen every time), when I switch the TV off, or the matrix off, or switch inputs on the TV, windows looses the audio source and goes looking for an audio source other than the HDMI source. I get the following message:

"Video cannot be displayed because an audio device has not been detected. Verify that your audio device is properly installed and that your speakers are connected, then try again."

How do I tell windows to ignore whatever it thinks it needs to do and just keep with the last audio source it detected?

Can anyone help?

I figured this out myself, what a headache. I am not sure what if the first steps fixed this or not but this is what I did to get past it.

Obviously restarting fixes it every time, but who wants to do that.

1. Disable any audio device that is not part of your HDMI audio out. In my case my mobo comes with realtech audio. I disabled this.
2. Under sound, select your TV as the default audio device
3. I have intel audio, check for and install latest drivers
4. Install all windows updates

Ok, from here it still was not fixed. After step five the problem went away...

5. Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray, select "Volume Control Options" Uncheck "All devices currently playing sound". Make sure the following are...

5. Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray, select "Volume Control Options" Uncheck "All devices currently playing sound". Make sure the following are checked: "The Default Communication Device" and, under "Sound Divices" I have my Samsung TV, so I made sure that was checked.

Now I can turn the TV on, off, sleep the PC, change sources on my matrix, it works perfect now. WHAT A HUGE PAIN! I SEE WHY PEOPLE LOVE APPLE
