Really dont know which one to buy.

What is better for 1080p gaming: Palit GTX 1060 Dual 3GB at $254 or Sapphire RX 480 NITRO+ OC 4GB at $288.

this is my budget for a mid/high tier card (the gpus prices may look more expensive than original but its just my country taking taxes).

this are the cheapest 1060 and 480 I could find in my country over the internet, what do you think?

edit: found Sapphire RX 480 NITRO 4G (non oc version) for $276, if that matters.

I had Sapphire HD 7870(great card) and i disided to swich it with new Palit SuperJetsream GTX1060 6GB.I was disapointed by the GTX1060 performance. In some games HD7870 even performed beter than the GTX1060.With older games i have GPU utilization problem. The 1060 is not working at it's full potential and that affects the framerates.

GTX 1060 doesn't realy works so good with old games. If u need it for new games it will be enough for FHD 60FPS gaming.
But i recomend u to buy the Sapphire.

what do you mean by saying "not working good for old games" ? cant see reason why it shouldn't to, also as i said i am more also want to take the cost of the gpus into the consideration.

i understood what you meant after you edited your comment. if you want more gpu usage try to up the graphical settings, if its already on highest set it to max peformance in the nvidia control panel.. i really dont think this is a problem.. (dunno why you have this problem.

See the picture that i've uploaded. The GPU usage should be theoreticaly maxed all the time(if u have no FPS limit). But practically GPU usage is not maxed out.I read a lot of topics with such problem with the GTX series graphic cards in the forums.Nvidia live support cant help u with that i've tried twice.

BTW There are a lot of GTX1060 vs RX480 reviews.

not even on my card gpu usage is 100%, it depends on how much work there's on gpu, old less demanding games will have less usage on the gpu, doesnt mean its not operating well, just less demanding games (its like 30% cpu usage vs 100% cpu usage, doesnt mean cpu isn't doing its full potential)

and ofc i know there are gtx 1060 vs rx 480 reviews but here i also want to know what's better compared at price. idk if a $34 or a $22 for a rx 480 nitro OC or non OC version is worth it , thats why i am asking.

I have 4 sticks at 1600 mhz Dual chanel but that doesn't mater.U will get the same performance from 1 stick in single chanel(i tried).
Honestly when your card is at 20-30% usage in a raid and u play with 40 fps it maters! My core clock is +2000 MHz all the time but that doesn't change the fact that u can't use the full potential of the card.

Here perfect example.I7 6700 cant bottleneck the 1070 in any possible way still problem occures.

Pay attention to the text under the video:
GTX 1060 3gb vs RX 480 4Gb (i7 6700@4.8) in all new games

My current CPU is i5-3470 3.6GHz but as soon as i can i will test it on I7 6700k.But i doubt that will fix the usage.
Man if u think i lie just check this forum to see how much threads there are with GTX 7/9/10 series with same random usage problem.

i dont think you lie but your problem is odd, seems like something wrong in the system or just a general bug which happen to some people.

Anyway I've made up my mind and decided to go with the rx 480 4gb nitro edition at $276 as I noticed its the same edition as the $288 one.. I've chose it because a RX 480 will be better for the long term due to better DX12 support and extra 1GB VRAM.

If u play on 1080p 4 GB Vram is enough.U need more for higher resolutions.
Yea i agree with u my problem is odd but it happened to a lot of people.
I've check most of my parts everything seems normal.
Write when u buy it to say how does the RX 480 works.
