Hi all thanks in advance for help

I have
i7-4930k 6 core over clocked to 4.2ghz
Gtx 1080 rog strix 1835mhz
16gb ram dd3 1600 mhz
Intel ssd 700 series

My monitor is an Asus rogue swift 2560x1440 144hz

At ultra settings for everything including hair works on except view distance high I get about 68 fps in Witcher dipping down to low to mid 50s

I want to never drop below 60

Additionally I have thought about system upgrades for a while

Price is not a huge object but I don't want to waste money

Should I do any of these and which will boost performance meaningfully...i.e. 5-10 fps or more

1) upgrade to a new motherboard so I can get a i7-7700k 4 core and over clock it to around 5ghz
2) as part of phase 1 with a new motherboard get dd4 3000mhz ram
3) get a m.2 ssd
4) get a gtx 1080 and put it in slightly
5) none and or wait for gtx 1080 ti if that's even happening

As a lighter question if you have played Witcher 3 will I even notice hair works that much? I have barely started the game so I don't know if it matters much

Thanks in advance

I would say SLI however the improvement at that resolution IMHO isn't worth the cost of another 1080. Getting a newer CPU or better RAM won't make enough of a improvement to justify replacing your current CPU & MB. Try turning down (or off) on Hairworks as it does utilize quite a bit of your GPU performance and personally I think it looks better off.

sli will put you over 60* as it goes from an average of 47 to 82*!!!

note hair works is turned off for this test *it is also not exactly your card BUT the chart dose seem to be showing some BIG improvements in fps.

but again an extra 1k ish for rock solid 60fps.... your call.

Turn hairworks down a notch or off. I do find it interesting your experience with a gtx 1080 is about the same as mine with a 1070. I run full ultra w/ hairworks max and stayed at 60fps (left fps limiter on) probably 75% of the time - I did dip down to 55-ish occasionally. But, with gsync I didn't see it, only knew because the frame counter said so.
