1700 Gaming PC

Solution

Actually the trend seems to be going smaller - micro ATX and mini ITX are becoming more preferred over giant full size towers. Most people prefer mid towers because they're the most common, but the trend seems to be moving away from giant towers and toward much smaller ones.

This is what I would suggest for $1700:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($344.75 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H5 Universal 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($46.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)...
Looks like you will have room for the radiator, NZXT list top and front mounts for 280mm rads.

As far as the build for this money I would be adding an SSD for boot and program files, makes thing load that much faster. I only added a budget 120GB SSD and downsized your HDD from 3TB to 2TB to keep the cost relatively the same. I would get a 240GB SSD though.

Decided to change the case. The Phanteks ProM Acrylic would be better equip for liquid.
PCPP did not include a $10 rebate at Newegg until Jan 28th.
