Cpu bottleneck need help

I'm currently having fps problems in a few games I play namely rainbow six siege and battlefield 1, the problem is most prominent in battlefield 1 where my on ultra and 1080p my cpu will run at 100% the majority of the time and my fps will jump around from ~20-~80.

My build:
Gigabyte z97 gaming 3
Intel I5 4690k Overclocked @4.1Ghz
Gtx 980ti G1 gaming
16Gb of ram which I have recently replaced from 8Gb (which is what I thought the issue was)
seasonic 750 watt gold

I've read on many threads that have reassured me that my cpu will not bottleneck my gpu but as far as I can tell this is the case. Any help is appreciated

Yea cpu runs around about 50 degrees and same with gpu

could my gpu be rendering too many frames and overloading my cpu?

gpu depends on what cpu sends, so it is the other way

all i can think of is that overclocking is not stable on your pc, try with default settings and see if situation continues

BF1 is notoriously bad for these kinds of problems..your hardware is fine...the game is not. You might check on forums discussing these and other issues with the game.

Ok so I just tried the theory that the gpu is sending too many frames to my cpu. I turned up my resolution scale to 200% and got a stable 40 fps then to 170% got a stable 50 and now to 155% which i've settled on and im getting a stable 70 fps I'm not sure if I would class this as a solution just yet as I've only tried it for a few minutes

your cpu may bottleneck on 100% resolution scale, but may not on 200%

try to lock the fps to 60 or 70 (a bit lower than max fps)
your cpu may got too much stress on unlocked fps

and what is your ram configuration now? add more 8GB or replace a new 16GB module
did you have any problem while running on those old ram?

My old ram configuration was 2X4Gb and my new ram config is 2x8gb and the problem was happening before I got new ram aswell.
How would you suggest I lock my fps are you meaning v-sync? because I have tried that and it doesnt seem to have an effect.

lock from in-game settings or using rivatuner, dont use v-sync
try run a harddrive benchmark and defrag the game files
