I've recently been experiencing ping spikes in games such as CS:GO and this didn't use to happen so I'm wondering if it has something to do with my wireless USB adapter or my router.

Ive pinged my router and the average is 4ms and the average to google is 31ms.

Ive done a speed test on speedtest.net and my results were; 7ms ping, 47.98Mbps download and
38.03Mbps Upload so that should be fine for online games so im thinking it had something to do with my adpater or router.

My wireless adapter is the Netgear A6100 USB wireless adpater and my router is just the standard telstra router for the NBN.

Thankyou in advance!

Online Gaming is recommended with Wired connections. Try 'Port Forwarding' your router to your PC. By the way, your ping and speeds are fine.

I know that it's better with wired but I cant do that since the router is in another room and that my wireless use to be fine for gaming so im wondering if upgrading my wireless adapter or router would be better since if I upgrade my router I can get one that has 5ghz wireless.
