I installed some 16gb DDR3 1866 HyperX Fury Ram into a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 mobo. Task manager says the ram speed is running at 1333, while cpu-z and the bios screen says it's running at the advertised speed 1866. From my research I understand that I need to enable xmp on my bios screen to get the ram to run at it's advertised speeds, yet I don't see the xmp enable setting anywhere in my bios settings. I am able to manually set my ram to 1866 in the bios but task manager is still telling me the ram is 1333. Anybody have any thoughts on why task manager says conflicting ram speeds and how can I tell what actual speed the ram is running?

Well you are missing the XMP setting which should be there. It could happen for a few reasons, but its most likely to do with your Hyper Fury RAM not having a compatible XMP profile (is a known issue) or not part of a kit. It may explain Windows confusion with the frequency too. You could try updating your BIOS, but as long as you can set it manually I guess it doesnt matter.

Thanks for your response. I figured that updating the BIOS might solve this, but I'm not sure if it's worth it if the ram is already working fine and is just showing up incorrectly in task manager. So if CPU-Z says the ram is at 1866 does that mean it's running at 1866 and task manager is just incorrect? Is there a way to see what speed the ram is running at with MSI Afterburner or something?
