I'm comparing a AMD quad core 1.8ghz Lenovo laptop with a AMD quad core 2.2ghz Lenovo laptop.

Performance overall still depends on the full spec of each laptop model, but taking each CPU in isolation then obviously the 2.2GHz model is faster than the 1.8GHz one.

If you're considering buying one, you need to compare the full specs of each laptop you're comparing, not just the processor.

A 1.8GHz AMD desktop CPU could be better than an AMD 2.2GHz mobile CPU. The 2.2GHz CPU could be better at gaming. The 1.8GHz could be better with multiple threads. Depending on the year they were born one could be better because of how it was designed and built(the aforementioned architecture).

You may learn more about PCs in the future. You will start to see that concentrating on any one aspect of any one piece of hardware is a bad idea. That in itself isn't bad but to make a decision on which is better with one aspect(speed in this case) is certainly a bad idea. There is a big picture to consider. That includes the complete name of the CPUs in question and what the User will be using the CPU for. The other components matter as well. A PC with only 4GB of RAM may not perform as well as one with 8GB.

In short? IDK.

Could you please make it easier on us? Can you offer the complete make and model numbers of the laptops in question. You could simply offer a couple links.

You then can tell us what these will be used for. BEtter is VERY subjective.

Help us, help you.

The g51 is marginally better. Its processor is slightly better and it can also accept for RAM than the Ideapad 110.

Does that justify the $50 premium? That's your call.

I would keep shopping to be sure they are getting the best for the least. Refurbished and open box items do come with warranties and are possibilities.
