Upgraded Graphics Card to 1050 Ti, Max 15 Frames per second on every game.

Alright, so I recently just got an upgrade for my computer, getting a new SSD drive and changing from a GTX 650 to a GTX 1050 Ti. The changes are extremely signficant, and theoretically should improve my computer performance significantly. However, after installing Team Fortress 2, I realized that I was getting a max of 15 frames per second. I tried with CS:GO and Hearhtstone, both extremely laggy.

I did a lot of troubleshooting, well not really I don't know computers for shit. What i did was I just updated Windows 10, Updated to the newest graphic drivers, Updated my Microsoft C++. However, I'm still getting crazy lag issues. I'm not exactly certain what the issue is but I might have boiled it down to one problem. My monitor is currently plugged into the wrong port, and when opening my Nvidia control panel, it further confirms my suspicion that it has to do with my monitor. The problem is that I have the wrong adapter, Im currently using the svga adapter and I need to go get the DVDI and HDMI cables so I can connect my monitor to my GPU. I just want to make sure that this is actually the cause of my issue. Since it is only a monitor, can it being connected to the wrong port be the cause of the crazy FPS issues?

Thank you very much.

My specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core 15-4440 CPU @ 3.1 Ghz
Ram: 8 GB
System type: 64 bit Os, x64 based processor
Graphics card: Geforce GTX 1050 Ti
Driver Version: 376.33

Solution
Because if you plug the monitor into the motherboard, then it will use the IGPU in your i5, which is slow for gaming. You must plug the monitor directly into the 1050 card.

Are you sure your pc is recognizing the new gpu? It looks like it use the integrated gpu in your core i5.
GTX 1050 ti doesnt have analog output. As far as I understand you connected a passive dvi to vga adapter and plugged your monitor? It wont work. You will need active one, or to use digital input on your monitor (dvi-d, hdmi, DP).

" The problem is that I have the wrong adapter, Im currently using the svga adapter"

The problem is you're using an adapter, period. That card will have outputs, pick the one that matches what your monitor accepts. If your monitor has more than one type of input it accepts, then it's your choice. It'll be display port, HDMI, or DVI from your card to the monitor. No VGA. VGA requires an active adapter which is something you'd know if you had since it costs more than the passive ones.

I'll be honest, I really have not the slightest knowledge in this computer stuff. I don't exactly understand what you guys are saying. Iceman, you said that my pc could be using the integrated gpu in my core i5, how exactly does that work? Are you saying my 1050 is not being utilized right now? If so, how do I switch over?

Also, I'm basing my theory to this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2037914/nvidia-display-settings.html, stating that by changing the port over to the graphics card, that gave a boost to his FPS. I'm not exactly sure how that works, since the monitor shouldn't really be relevant to the performance. I'll report back my progress once I get the HDMI adapter.
