Would a Core 2 Quad Q9450 bottleneck a GTX 1050 Ti

I have a GTX 295 with a Core 2 Quad Q9450 now, and im looking for a upgrade. I thought the GTX 1050 Ti would be ok, but im wondering if I have to replace my processor aswell.

Yes it will hold back the GPU in some games, but I'd still buy it it'll help over your 290 in a lot of situations and if you decide you need a better CPU that will still be a pretty strong GPU for another build

Another possible thought. The 960 outperforms the 1050ti in nearly every situation. You could buy a used 960 for a bit less than a new 1050ti

Only took a glance before posting they are pretty even in most cases. I suppose I'd pay more for a 1050ti than a used 960 but on a c2q processor I doubt either will be the weak link often

Id' suggest getting a new graphics card first and overclock the CPU. (running 400 FSB should bump you to 3.2 GHz, easily archiveble without clocking your RAM or voltage changes.)
Even if OC doesn't give you the performance you want, you can put the performance of the card into graphics quality and carry it over into a new system.
