Hello,

I just bought a Samsung 850 EVO SSD (250GB) to boost my old config:
Motherboard: MSI Z87 G45 Gaming
CPU: Intel i5 4440 @3.10 GHz
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1To
Graphic card: MSI Gtx 1060 6Go (added along the SSD)
Ram: GSkill Ripjaws X 2x4Go

I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7 (64bits version) on the SSD. After deleting the partitions on my HDD (system and other data), I started installing Windows 7 on the SSD, but got an error message. I finally installed the OS on my HDD, and tried cloning it on the SSD.
I first tried using Samsung Magician, but got an error while defragmenting the disk.
Then I cloned it using EaseUS Todo Backup following this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/97242/how-to-migrate-windows-7-to-a-solid-state-drive/

So I have my system files on the SSD and HDD. But when I try booting from the SSD, I got an "Disk Read" error message asking me to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the Computer.

My motherboard is on IDE, because AHCI couldn't find my SSD in the BIOS.

I hope I was clear enough, excuse my bad english.
Have a nice day !

Solution
Since you are doing a clean setup anyway, remove your old drive, setup the SSD only in the system on the lowest # SATA port, go into the BIOS and disable secure boot, enable Legacy boot options. Set drive mode to AHCI. Then boot the system off the Windows 7 media in a USB2 port (not 3), if you are using a USB stick and not a DVD, see if it sees the SSD then and will let you install Windows on it.

Thank you very much !

I managed to install Windows 7 (from a DVD) on my SSD connecting it as only drive, and setting the BIOS to AHCI.
Then I restarted my computer after reconnecting the HDD, and using the Windows boot manager in the BIOS (SSD first then HDD).
What didn't worked was using the UEFI boot option after installation.
