So what kind of MHz does it have to be... It says 3400MHz but can it use any less MHz? I'll be having a i5 6600k so what DDR4 ram would be a good choice and will not be too pricey. I'd like only 8gb of ram for now.

Every motherboard OEM has a webpage for each board, on that page is a list of tested ram modules (often under support section/tab)

These are modules that the mobo manufacturer has tested and approved on their board.
Does not mean that others wont work, but it means if you get ram in that list it is garanteed to work.
Not getting ram in that list is can be risky as you may very well get stuck in limbo between the ram and mobo vendors poitning fingers at each other instead of issuing you an RMA if you ever need it.

You can always have higher MHz but highly doubt you will need it. It all depends on your CPU and the motherboard. I suggest just going with 2133 MHz.

EX. I have i7 5960x with Corsair LPX DDR4 2800.. but it only goes up to 2600Mhz.. I tried to overclock it to 2800 and it just wont post.
