Specs:
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD
Asus PRIME z270m-plus motherboard
Intel Core i5 7600K
Windows 10 Home
Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD

I Just built a PC with an SSD as boot drive and a HDD for storage. At first everything worked fine, but after i reformatted the HDD today it suddenly won´t show up in drive manager. My BIOS and Windows´ device manager can still detect the drive but i can´t get it to show up in drive management. I tried changing sata ports on the mobo and swapping the cables between the HDD and the SSD.

After about 2 hours of googling I´m absolutely clueless as to what the problem might be and any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, i just fixed the problem! Apparently i created a storage pool with the drive by accident which meant Disk management could no longer see the drive.
Hey there, Jouni1.

You did well with the troubleshooting by trying different ports and cables. It would be even better if you could try the HDD with a different computer as well, to see if the same thing happens.
Would you be so kind as to post screenshots of what you see in Disk Management and Device Manager? Here's how to do it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2176231/guide-posting-screenshot-forum.html.

Other than that, since the drive has no data on it and it seems to be recognized by your BIOS and OS, you could try testing it with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool by running all the tests, just to see if there's anything out of the ordinary.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
