Under Performance by the Intel Core i7-6700k

I went from using a mid-class Dell Precision t3500 with a Intel Xeon w3520. I just needed to replace the graphics card and everything ran fine. I had the opportunity to get my hands on an Intel Core i7-6700k, I wanted it because as far as I know it is the biggest bang for your buck. Now, when I got it I knew I needed to replace my motherboard, which I did, I got the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming. I ran it, everything was fine, until I played a game of League of Legends (not the best game for an Intel Core i7-6700k, I know). I was playing and I noticed a huge frame drop from the Intel Xeon W3520 to the Intel Core i7-6700k, the game (which was on Ultra settings) was running at an average of about 67 fps. My Xeon was running League of Legends on Ultra at an average of about 127 fps. I just thought that I could just close it and rerun League of Legends, it stayed the same. I went to the Asus BIOS to overclock my processor and now League of Legends runs at an average of 27 fps no matter the quality of the picture. The graphics card is the only thing that both of the computers have in common, which is the MSI GeForce GTX 950 2GD5 OC. (I put this thread under systems because it could be a systematical problem)

I am not currently at my house but I will try these things ASAP. I also forgot to add I have two hard drives one of which is bootable and has Windows 10 on it, so I did not freshly install Windows 10.

My CPU runs around 31 degrees Celsius, according to my BIOS. That is all I can tell you right now. I have two tower fans, a CPU fan, and the graphics card has a fan, so it might not be temperature (but I don't know anything).

You can't just switch HDD like that. You are lucky it booted at all.

Fresh install of windows will solve this.

May I ask why?

Because the operating system needs instructions on how to use the hardware. These are called drivers.

Your Operating System thinks its running on the old rig, and because of that, it is causing major issues. It has an incorrect set of instructions.

Okay thanks, I will try replacing the hard drives. Or could I replace the drivers without buying a new hard drive?

You may need to buy windows again if you don't have a key, or it was an OEM key that got burned during online activation.

Windows 10 is free to download and install, its just a matter of getting it activated.

I made another thread asking how reset my computer from a flash drive. Another person said that i just needed to install the graphics card driver and the processor driver. They said that reinstalling Windows doesn't install drivers. I tried downloading the drivers and that didn't work.

At this point, take my advice or leave it :p

You have tried numerous things, everything but my single piece of advice.

Windows does install drivers, to say it doesn't is ludicrous. How does it tell the difference between a broadcom NIC and a qualcomm atheros NIC? Some PCs have one, some have the other - Windows detects what you have and downloads a BASIC driver. This is fine for the vast majority of the devices on your computer. Did you know you have a marvel USB 3.0 controller? Probably not - because windows took care of it. How about your audio? is it a realtek? You wouldn't know because you didn't download the drivers - windows did.

Now, if you have an advanced device that needs regular updates, like a Graphics Card - then you go to the manufacturers website and get them directly.

Your Computer has TONS AND TONS of bad instructions on it. Pages and pages of drivers that are straight up wrong, you don't even have the same chips on your motherboard.

Do a fresh install of windows, download your drivers that you need up to date, and your problems will be gone.

Even the most advanced users have trouble scrubbing and reinstalling drivers after a hard ware change. When you have changed every bit of hardware on the PC - it becomes near impossible.

So the question I had on the other thread was, after I installed the Media to a flash drive that is boot able (via Rufus). What do I do after that, and thank you for being patient with me.

I used the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool but where do I go from there, by the way i installed the Windows 10 Media to the flash drive directly. Oh wait, just run the executable or I mean update it when it asks "Download for this computer or another"?

I installed Windows 10, I downloaded League of Legends and it launches the low resolution League of Legends. I downloaded Skyrim and it detected my system, it set my default video settings to low quality. I used Nvidia GeForce and I set Skyrim at maximum performance, it ran at 10 fps.

1) I assume the monitor is plugged into the GPU not the mother board?

2) have you checked CPU/GPU temps and speed while in use to ensure bios is set up right/temps are okay?

3) have you installed all the chipset drivers (up to date not just the ones on the CD)

Once I get home, (I am currently at school) I will install more drivers. Also, my HDMI cord is plugged into my motherboard.
