Ok, so I've had my PC for about a year now and then all the sudden my PC starts to randomly turn off whilst playing games. It could happen as soon as i got into my first game or it could happen 2-3 hours into a game.
So first thing i did was that i started monitoring my temps but my graphics card only went up too 70 Celsius and my CPU got to 60 Celsius so it was obviously not a overheating problem, then i factory reset my PC but it still restarted when playing games. So since i couldn't fix it i send it back to the company i bought it from (Komplett) to see if they knew what was going on, they told me they couldn't find anything but assumed it was the PSU so they switched my (corsair vs650) out for a (corsair cx650m) and sent it back to me. Everything seemed fine for about a week or 2 but then the same problem started occurring once again, but so far I've only had the problem on source based games (CSGO,dota2,l4d2), i hope this is enough info but feel free to ask questions if i missed anything, thx

specs:
MB: MSI Z97 GAMING 3 (with the latest BIOS: 2.A0)
PSU: Corsair cx650m
CPU: Intel i5-4590 (with stock cooler)
GPU: ASUS GTX970 4GB turbo
RAM: 2x HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 4GB
SYSTEM: windows 10 home x64

Solution
It could be one of the new recording features added either to Windows or Nvidia Drivers in the last few months.

Windows has an Xbox Game DVR app that it added which should be turned off. It requires you to log into the xbox app which is annoying but it is on by default and pretty easy to turn off.

If you have Nvidia Geforce Experience installed Shadowplay could be the cause I suppose. From what I have seen it is also easy to disable.

As i said, i already had it replaced and that worked for about 2 months and then the problem recurred.
Yes, it could still be the the PSU but the chances of me get 2 bad PSU's in a row seems pretty small to me.

Sorry for not reading that. Somethings I would try:
1. A different wall socket and surge protector.
2. If the first suggestion doesn't work. Try taking the graphics card out and run csgo on the onboard graphics. I know it won't be ideal, but lets see how your computer reacts. Did you test using a different graphics card?
Did you test the memory?

I have tested the memory with AIDA64 for about 2 hours with no reaction, something i've tried aswell is using the laptop battery saving option in csgo wich actualy seems stop the crashing. This kinda hints towards a PSU problem in my opinion or is that just me?

Sry for the late reaction but i have tried it and it didn't work, something i am gonna try is underclocking my gpu to see if less voltage fixes the problem if that makes sense.

How did your computer react when you took the graphics card out of the computer and plug your monitor into the onboard? Did you computer restart during gaming?

i kinda dont trust myself with removing any parts since iv'e never done that before but i don't think that would give any important information anyway because it would still come down to either my PSU or GPU being the problem if i tried that

Btw, i used my gpu manager to under clock everything about 30 minutes ago and i haven't had problems since which to me, once again points towards the PSU. any opinions on that?

the games that have been crashing lately are source games (csgo, l4d2, dota2)
the driver im using is 378.49 (the latest)
and now that iv'e underclocked my gpu its not crashing

Ok, this post is pretty much dead so for anyone reading this, by under clocking my GPU using a GPU manager i stopped the problem. Even though i still dont know the source of my problem i find this a solid temporary solution. thx.

When you under clock your gpu, it draws less power. What would you think the issue would be? I'd suggest contacting the vendor for your power supply and see if they'll honor a replacement.

they can only replace it with a corsair psu, im probably gonna buy a nevga 650 gold psu and get something worth my money.
as i have said they have replaced my psu before and it didnt do anything

yup, first i had the vs650, then i sent my pc to the company that i bought it from and they replaced it with a cx650m. with the vs650 my pc shut down with every single game i played and with the cx650m my game crashes with some specific games but not all.

You have had this problem on two PSU's now and when you make a change to your GPU it fixes the problem. It's probably a GPU issue not a PSU issue. Try doing a Kelvin burn in test from the MSI Afterburner App with default clocks on your GPU. If the problem occurs you should be able to monitor it live and see a spike in heat or something like that. You may be able solve the problem and not lose processing power by adjusting your fan speed profile to keep the temp stable. You may start hearing your fan though so its a tricky balance to strike. If GPU heat is the problem you could also pull it, clean it, and if you are feeling really froggy swap the thermal paste for Artic Silver.

is it ok if i use aida64 instead to test the temps?
