CPU High 70's/80 while shutting down?

So my build consists of an i7 4790k with stock cooler, Phantom 530 Full tower case, and motherboard is MSI Gaming 5 z97, and GTX 1060 6G OC.

On idle I'm getting temps around 24c-35c, when playing games like DayZ I get 55-68c on ultra, and on rainbow six siege on ultra my cpu goes anywhere from 70-80c so I've been steering clear from that game until I get an aftermarket cooler.

BUT, when I go to power and press shut down, and it says shutting down, my fan goes into like overdrive, and cpu heat builds from 24c all the way up to mid to high 80's.

This can't be healthy for the processor, anyone know why my cpu hits such high temps during shut down phase?

I'd also like to add that this is my very first computer with specs anywhere close to these and I built it by myself last week so I'm still pretty new to everything.

Thanks

Its normal behavior for the processor to work hard when it shuts down. I wouldn't be to worried about hitting 80c as long as it's not prolonged periods of time.
