Odd GPU Issue

I have an Intel DQ67SW motherboard, I think my PCI-E slot may be dead.

I used to have a GT730 which was awful, so I later got a HD7970 Windforce Edition, worked great for a while until one day, I turn the pc on and it's dead, so I got a GTX 1050Ti, still dead, but (and here's the weird bit) when I put the GT730 back in, it works without issue! What's the issue here??

It may have burned out the power delivery circuitry. Both the 7970 and the 1050Ti use a lot of power delivered from the motherboard, near the maximum 75W, as well as power delivered from the external connectors. The GT730, however, is only a 25-50W card, so it can run from the power delivered from the motherboard even if some of it is damaged. You may need to buy a new motherboard.

Hmm, interesting, but how would the 7970 exceed 75W from the slot if the card has to draw less than that (as per PCI-E specs)

"4. A x16 graphics card is limited to 75 W. The 75 W maximum can be drawn via the combination of +12V and +3.3V rails, and the sum of the draw on the two rails cannot exceed 75 W."

Yes, that's what I mean, if the board can deliver 75W then why would a card drawing 75W damage the power delivery system?

Well the whole system was bought new, board was never damaged, I don't suppose there's any fix for this? Other than a new board?
