Hello Everyone!

I just upgraded my pc parts and need some second opinions before time runs out. My current build is as follows.

Motherboard : H110M Gaming MSI Board
CPU: Intel i5-6500 @ 3.20GHz
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 1080 FTW
Ram: HyperX FURY Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4
PSU: KINGWIN Mach 1 ABT-1000MA1S 1000W ATX / BTX

here is where the problem is and I think I know it has something to do with the motherboard but it may be the processor is doa. I just purchased an Intel i7-7700K which I know isn't Skylake but instead is kabylake. I don't know if this motherboard will support it or if the processor is just dead out of the box.

I installed the new CPU and it does not boot and no BIOS displays. The fans/lights will enable but nothing happens from there. I have since removed the 7700k and put the i5 back in and everything is business as usual. Could anyone provide some assistance as it would be greatly appreciated before I just decide to either send the cpu back as doa or go and upgrade the mobo then come to find it was in fact an issue with the cpu. Thank you!

Solution
Put your old CPU back in and update the BIOS. The board will support it but you must update the BIOS with the old CPU first. Do note you can't oc that processor with that board. Would probably be a better buy to get a 7700 non k and save a few bucks if you can refund the processor and get a different one. If not it's not a huge deal.

Ok, I'm gonna attempt this. I am somewhat a novice when it comes to updating the bios. I was able to get the update file and all it has in the zip is a readme which just shows the patch notes and a file named "E7994IMS.580" so the extension is a .580. At this point I'm unsure how to use this :(

Thanks Everyone! It was indeed the bios version. I was running version 5.5 and updated it to bios version 5.8 using a flash drive and running the bios on the old processor. I installed the new CPU and everything seems to be going good so far. I appreciate your help Elbert and Supahos
