Should I upgrade my old FX 4100 CPU or buy new GPU?

Good day guys!

I was planning to upgrade everything in rig but I'm currently deciding what to buy first.

Here's my current rig:
CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.6Ghz
GPU: A dead HD 7770 (which I removed already)
RAM: 8gb
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 (Only supports PCI-e 2.0 x16)
PSU: Seasonic G-650 650W
1080p Monitor
Windows 10

Parts to buy:
CPU: Intel i5-6600 3.30-3.90Ghz
GPU: Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ 8gb
8 or 16gb DDR4 RAM
Motherboard: Asrock H170 Pro 4 Hyper

I frequently use my PC mostly for games but obviously I'm on a budget. What I want to ask is should I upgrade my GPU first? Will the RX480 8gb (Costs around $278) perform well even with a FX 4100? Or should I just buy the i5-6600+mobo+ram? (Costs around $415 without GPU in my country)

Follow-up question: Are there any other cheaper 6th gen CPUs that would be a worthy upgrade AND would not cause a bottleneck with the RX480?

THANKS. Please be gentle. It's my first post.

Your CPU will be the primary bottlenecker here if you switch to the RX480 obviously. You should plan on getting a new MoBo if it only supports PCIe 2.0. I would go with the CPU/MoBo upgrade. If you're on a budget, 8GB of RAM is plenty unless you're running a ton of stuff at the same time. If you get the unlocked i5-6600k, it'll set you back another $20, but you can get some decent overclocking with it.

I attached some info below about bottlenecking.

Interesting. From the link it says that both the i5-6400 and i5-4460 won't bottleneck the RX-480. Both are within my current budget. Would you mind telling which one would be a better? Is DDR4 really worth it?

For 1080p gaming, once you get an i5 it doesn't really help to get a faster i5. Unless you have some other, non gaming need, then the 6600 isn't worth the extra cost over the 6400. As far as DDR4 goes, it's the future. If you're building a new system then you're using DDR4 and that's that. There is no 'worth it' here, that's just how it is.
