can i put a 7600k on my msi z170a sli plus motherboard?

I don't know of a way to know which BIOS is on the motherboard before purchasing it.
There are 4 versions of the BIOS and that processor needs the 2nd newest.
You may want to contact MSI directly and ask them what to do.
Or you can just try it and if you can't get it working, return the board or buy the cheapest processor that works on an earlier version of the BIOS, like a G3900 or a G4400.
Someone had this question in 2014 and may not be relevant still but at that time it did not seem there was a way to update the BIOS without a CPU: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184831.0
