So I bought the ASRock fatal1ty Pro gaming i7 motherboard with 3 ultra m.2 slots from Newegg on Black Friday and got the Skylake i7 6700 k processor to go along with it. Little did I know it would be hard to find a suitable PC case for this XL motherboard (product dimensions are 12 x 13.5 x 3.4) (item dimensions are 11.97 x 13.46 x 3.43 - L x W x H). I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a good pc case for me that has adequate air cooling but could also provide the option to convert to water cooling later down the line (black / red build) I really like the corsair graphite 780t black/red case, the in-win 805 infiniti case, Thor V2, or the darkbase pro 900 but I really dont want to spend over $200 for a case just yet. Ive read a lot of reviews that the 780t is built cheap and scratches very easily but it does look pretty sexy. Im only utilizing 1 gtx 960 ftw (will be upgrading soon) and hyper evo 212 cpu cooler. Im having commitment issues picking out the right case. Can anyone help? I do apologize if this topic has been covered elsewhere. I work 2 jobs also, so please excuse me if I dont respond too quickly. Thanks in advance everyone.

Greetings!

Your mother board is a standard ATX size and not as large as the dimensions that you listed. Here is Asrock's specs:

As for cases, there are a ton of options, but looking at the design elements in the cases you were leaning toward, here are some potential options:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133316&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= This one will not fit an Evo 212 for it only supports air coolers up to 155mm and the Hyper Evo 212 is 159mm, but it would work if you moved to an AIO first thing...

There are many others, but I was trying to keep it under ~$100.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate both of your responses. You've posted some great cases (some in which I haven't even seen in my searches).. and I've spent many hours looking for the right case in the $100-$150 range lol.

I'm gonna be going through the list over the weekend and hopefully making my decision. I just have 1 more question (and I know it's something that's been covered in other threads but none of the answers have solved my problem as of yet..)

For my ASROCK motherboard.. I'm using a bootable flashdrive to install windows on a brand new hard drive (not ssd or m2 yet - still working on that).. When I power on the motherboard everything boots as it should and I'm able to select the flashdrive to start the windows installation process..

Once the install is completed it goes to the Windows setup mode where you create your initial profile (setting up for the first time) and move forward.. For some reason when it gets to this phase.. I lose complete control of my keyboard and mouse and get stuck at the setup screen.

To keep it short... Mouse / Keyboard work completely fine in bios (plugged into ps/2 ports not usb 3.0 / 3.1 -- though I've tried the process plugged into both of these options as well) but once windows goes to setup .. I lose completely functionality of both mouse & keyboard and can't continue setting windows up.

***Fixes I've tried***

- Going into the usb setting and enabling EHCI Hand-off..
- I've tried disabling the usb 3.0 / 3.1 in the bios configuration (read this could be a potential reason they lose functionality when windows boots and needed to use the PS/2 ports on the motherboard)
- Read there was an option in the advanced section of the bios that needed to be enabled that was called Windows 7 Installation but I couldn't locate it..

Any insight would be appreciated.. I've been trying this for 3 days now and it's getting pretty frustrating x_x

Why are you using PS/2 ports? Modern PC's support USB in BIOS. I've never used PS/2 on my PC. Just plug the USB's in 2.0 ports for more luck :D.
PS/2 was used on my old build because it was a very old chipset using a Sempron CPU.
I don't think there's a need to use it today.

Well the only reason I tried the ps/2 port was because on another thread one of the users was having the same problem and he said that when he plugged his mouse into the ps/2 port ... he was able to get his mouse / keyboard working again and move forward with his windows setup. That unfortunately wasn't the case for me lol.

It doesn't seem to matter which usb port I plug my keyboard & mouse into .. I always end up with the same problem.. Keyboard / Mouse works perfectly fine in the bios.. Ceases to work once Windows setup begins. :fou:
