My rig :-
Fx 6300
M5a97le2.0
Antec vp450
8gigs ddr3 ram

Hey pals , can you help me to choose the best video out of rx 480 8gb ref vs gtx 1060 6gb

Note:-
1.my psu has 6 pin connector so i am going with reference rx 480 8gb
2.i will upgrade to zen in future

Doubts :-
1.there is hype that rx 480 will outperform gtx 1060 @dx 12 games & amd drivers are been improving right now !!!
2.extra 2gb vram matters with rx 480 8gb for future ultra textures packs?

So i need a card for my build Which can atleast stay for 2 years @1080p very high- high 50-60fps gaming!!!

Thank you

Currently those cards are on the fringe of 60fps at max for several games like Witcher3, probably with some reduced settings you could be on 50-60 for a couple of years but if you want to be sure, want more than a couple of years or want guarantee max settings at 1080 i would aim at least for a 1070.

From your doubts:
1. No, is not Hype, the 480 is better for Dx12 currently and probably in the future, but Nividia also have an edge on other games, is just a choice mainly.
2. I would say that in a resolution like 1080 and the filters that those cards could handle no, is no diference at all between 6Gb and 8Gb. In higher...
It isn't hype that the RX 480 beats the 1060 in DX 12, it's reality. There are some "DX 12" games that the GTX 1060 beats the RX 480 but these are games that use a DX 12 wrapper, which is far worse than the game actually being DX 12.

Right now the RX 480 and GTX 1060 will net you around the same performance. If you plan on keeping the card for any period of time though I would go for the RX 480. It's designed to last longer.

can i use 6 pin to 8 pin molex connector for powering non reference gpu? My psu can take load of that wattage right? Or should i go to reference one?
