My specs are:
Motherboard: ASROCK B85M-HDS
Graphics Card: ASUS Geforce GTX 970 OC edition
Processor: Intel i7 4790k
16gb DDR3 ram
PSU: Thermaltake Model TT-500NL1NH-1 500W

I have had this problem for the last few months. On seemingly random but frequent occasions when I boot my PC I will get no display going to my monitor. If i plug the HDMI cable directly into the mobo using the integrated graphics everything worked fine except for the GPU. When I reset CMOS and plugged the HDMI back into the graphics card everything worked well including the grapihcs card. However recently i the CMOS jumper started to break and my GPU wont work even with after resetting CMOS manually as well as resetting the bios settings through the software. Why did CMOS fix the graphics card in the past and what should I try now that it seems like resetting cmos has stopped working?

I checked the bios setting and it had the PCI-E slot as the main one already as default.
