Hello guys
I am new here, so I apologize if i post this question in the wrong thread or if I do not provide sufficient information.
I am building a new gaming pc in the summer (my first pc build ever) and my maximum budget is at 2100$. I do not have all the components figured out yet, mostly because i want to wait on AMD in regards to Vega and Ryzen and possible price changes.

My question is related to storage. The sole purpose of this build is gaming, nothing else. So i am wondering about the best [strike]constellation[/strike] configuration/combination of SSD's and Mechanical drives. I can't figure out, if it's best to go for two SSD's (i'm not sure that can be done within the budget) or go for a smaller 250 GB SSD and a 4 TB mechanical drive? Is the mechanical drive going to be efficient enough for launching all the games from there?

Thank you in advance

Hey there, Razerback.

Basically the SSD+HDD combo is still the most efficient combo in terms of performance and budget, so I'd say that you're looking in the right direction.
Storage does not play a huge role in terms of gaming, and basically has little to nothing to do with performance. The main difference is that a faster storage device like an SSD will load your games and in-game loading screens a lot faster than an HDD and that's about it. So I'd say that a 250GB SSD for your OS and some of the games that are heavier in terms of loading along with a 4TB HDD for storage and the rest of the games would be just fine.

There's just one more thing you need to think about while considering your budget and that is a backup option. It...

There's just one more thing you need to think about while considering your budget and that is a backup option. It could be an external drive, or a cloud service, or at least another internal drive, but I'd strongly recommend that you have a way to backup your most important files, such as: photos, videos, documents, projects, etc.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
