hello i had for long time a USB2.0 to sata adaptor and a bunch of 2.5" hdd NTFS formatted that works perfectly.
i bought a new laptop, with USB 3.0 ports so i decided to buy an USB 3.0 to sata adaptor.
unfortunately when i use any hdd with usb 3.0 adaptor they aren't accessible and windows tell to me that they need to be formatted, but if i switch to usb 2.0 adaptor they're fully accessible!!
i think that usb 3.0 adaptor was faulty so i returned for another one... back to home same thing happen.. so i was a little angry: "2 faulty adaptors? not possible!!"
i backed up one hdd and when windows asked to format... i formatted it, and now it's accessible an i can work with it.. but... surprisingly...if i plug it with the usb2.0 adaptor the disk do not show up, hdd led is lit showing data activity, if i open disk management no disk are displayed, it appear to be locked... i waited and waited and eventually an error message showed up "can't access drive, wrong parameter" i think this is one of the error messages even microsoft programmers didn't know exist!
after waiting for 3 hours disk manager still blank! so i can use an external hdd formatted with usb2 to sata only with usb2 to sata and i can use an external hdd formatted with usb3 to sata only with that usb3 to sata controller... why?
what's going on?!?! can someone explain and help me fix it please?
i have windows 7 and all disk are ntfs formatted
thanks!

update, i tried again with a small 160gb sata disk (usb2 to sata adaptor) and after some time it showed up on disk management, it is RAW formatted (but it works perfectly if i connect it with usb3.0 to sata adaptor)

update2: i actually found a workaround, i didn't know i can use USB3.0 to sata even in usb2.0 ports!! now i can access hdd even in old computers without usb3.0 port using that adaptor, but it is still strange
