gtx 1060 or rx 480 which performs better right now

im currently building mainly for gaming

Gigabyte ga h97m d3h(already have)
Antec earthwatts 650w 80+bronze(already have)
Seagate 1tb hard drive(already have)
Intel i5 4590 3.3ghz(already have)
Kingston hyperx fury blue 1600 16gb(2x8gb)

both perform roughly the same

the Rx480 performs a bit better than the 1060 in dx12
in dx11 it's the other way around, although the difference is not as big as it once was

6GB 1060 vs. 8GB 480 of course.

differences are pretty small overall and it depends much more on the specific game itself

I'd go with the cheaper price personally, or with convenience -- the 1060s are usually a bit smaller, cooler and quieter than the Rx480 and perform all alike whilst the 480s highly depends on the design you look at

With that monitor, if you really want to enjoy the 144hz which the monitor can give to you, think in gtx 1070.

Now, back to the main question: I would pick the cheaper available. Both performs at the same level currently on most titles, but AMD have a advantage on DX12 games.
