My friend recently mentioned that Intel is better than amd a8 7600. Is this true? I like amd because of its high clocking speeds and lower cost. What would be the best alternative(same price range or lower) in Intel?

I know people will try to be fair to both here but this is the honest truth: Intel hasn't had to compete in the processor realm since 2011. There are several examples of the latest Quad Core AMD chips losing in performance benchmarks to their Intel dual core equivalents. This all comes down to underlying architecture advantages that Intel's engineers have come up with over time.

An example of Intel having no competition is found in their Kaby Lake line of processors. No major improvements were made over Skylake except higher frequency settings at stock. Why is this? Because they don't have to do any more than what they already are to get your business. I hope AMD can impress us with their newest offerings this year to breathe some...
Here is Tom's Hardware's current CPU Hierarchy chart.

Overall, Intel offers better performance. There are wins and losses for both sides depending on how much is spent, and what the workload is. It's really difficult to nail down a more specific answer without more detail about exactly what you use the computer for, as well as the rest of the components, etc.
