You won't lose FPS, but it will definitely not scale well. It's not the same aspect ratio and you don't have a flat number of pixels to pixels.
As long as you have a CPU to match a good GPU, you should gain a significant chunk in FPS. Why do you want to tune down to 1920*1080?
