I just bought a new graphic card amd rx470, installed it and removed the old CG.
but then the monitor displays "Cable not connected"

the connection between the monitor (VGA) and the GC (DVI-D) is done through an adapter(Male DVI-D to Female VGA Adapter).
I'm thinking, after doing some research, maybe the adapter is fake and is causing this problem.
I'm hoping that's the case, because if not, it would mean that the Brand new CG is at fault ?

Solution
Those types of adapters are typically for DVI-I.

Interestingly enough though (the one in the picture at least) is bassically a scam adapter.
It lackes the 4 pins for a DVI-I connection but would not be big enough to contain the ciruitry to actively convert the signal.
A normal DVI-I has the pins in it for VGA and DVI data and the adapter just puts the metal pins into a VGA port.

Thus that adapter, unless it serves a purpose in a specific devices video port, will do absolutely nothing.

Do I have to install drivers for GC before installing it ?

My psu is Xilence XP 2500 , 500W should be okay ?

Solution
In regards to your PSU that is a replace as soon as possible brand.

This is not a quality unit, this is the kind of unit that will not only die running 60% of the wattage stated on the sticker, but also fry the rest of your parts with it when it dies.

A good quality 550w psu will give enough wattage to support a better card in the future.
Seasonic is a great brand, EVGA B2/G2 are really good as well.

I guess I need to buy HDMI to VGA adapter, any advise regarding choosing an appropriate adapter ? Wouldn't want to repeat the same mistake.
