I took the drive out of my old but fully functional laptop. The laptop would boot correctly so I know the drive previously worked, however the screen was cracked in half and I did not feel like replacing it. I plugged the old HDD into a slot on my windows 10 PC's motherboard the same way my tower's other two drives are. I was hoping I would be able to access the drive however the drive does not "spin" even when plugged in correctly. When I go to the disk manager it asks me to initialize the disk however I get a cyclic redundancy check error whenever I attempt to initialize the HDD. I even attempted to use my SATA to USB adapter which was how I accessed the HDD from an even older laptop however I get the same issue when I attempt to access the drive this way. I ran a SeaTools diagnostic check on the drive and it says the drive was healthy. I've tried ideas from numerous different thread's and I've run out.

Hey there, Rob.

Have you just checked the SMART status of the the drive or ran all the tests? If the HDD does can't spin-up at all it shouldn't be recognized by either the OS or the mobo.
What was the initial cause for the cracked screen? My guess is that whatever happened might have damaged the drive as well, especially if the laptop was working at that moment.

You could try testing the drive with a 3rd party tool as well, to see if you'll get the same results as before.

Hope that helps.
