Just got my pc running, now it is only using 1.5 gigs of ram. asrock 960gm u3s3 fx motherboard supports up to 8 gigs, and my internal graphics are only using 256 mb of ram. I thought it might have been a bios problem, so i reset my comos (because i forgot the password) only to not see a use all available ram option. please help.

How many modules do you have installed? Try one stick at a time to see if each shows up the correct amount. If only one stick, check in BIOS to see if you have memory hole remapping option and make sure it is enabled.
