i just bought a new upgrade for my PC so the only thing old is my GPU and HDD, the thing is when i turn my PC on its lights up as it should but my monitor show no image

did a little digging and found out the z170's need a bios update to work better with 7th gen CPU's is that why?
and how do i fix it?
or is it non of the above?

GPU is a 780ti

You need to flash your UEFI to a more recent version - that is correct.

You need to use a compatible CPU to get the PC to boot. Only then can you flash the motherboard.

You could purchase a G3900, install it, flash your UEFI, then return it to the store and use your 7700k.

Take the motherboard back to the shop that supplied it, they should have the equipment there to do the BIOS for you, and even if there is no legal obligation (as there would be in the UK and most European countries), they should at least feel a moral obligation to do it for free. If you are in a country where they would have a legal obligation, don't forget to take your receipt with you.

Or just update the bios version I had the same problem

whats wrong with a 6700 skylake over the 7700 for overall everyday use ?? little to nothing when all said and done ??? just get the best supported cpu listed under all bios's and let it rock on that

''Never again worry about corrupted BIOS, as CrashFree BIOS 3 lets you restore a PC to working order — even when it won't boot!''

with that it should flash using that , right ???

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-PRO-GAMING/

https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1012219

seems like you would be in the same boat just put the bios you need on a disk as they say and fire it up and it runs and installs a new bios ???

just a thought on that asus crap seeing a bad corrupted bios aint supporting anything anyway

maybe toms do a review and test that and give a article on the results

I don't thank that would work, since the BIOS isn't actually corrupted. I don't know for sure, but it just doesn't seem like it would.

What might actually work is something he can't do with that board, and that's USB BIOS Flashback. Just put a USB drive in the right port, and press the Flashback button. It doesn't even need to be able to boot. BUT, that's all moot, here, of course.

well that's no ones fault but there own . all that is right there for them to see and understand that's part of the point of having that cpu support list , right ????

I have said before 1/2 of these forums post would not be here if guys would just look past all the sales hype and FPS and all the glitter and more at the facts and . what it does support and can do sometime you got to read between the lines a bit as well.

that's why when I buy a board I buy the best cpu listed under ''ALL'' bios's that means even first release to latest , no goofs there cause you cant even trust what bios is shipped on the board you bought but you can all way count on it having atleast its first release if nothing else and you covered

not buy a board and it comes in to you with bios 001 and the cpu you ordered needs bios 004 your screwed , back to newegg ..lol.....

yup. like I said buy the best cpu under all bios supported and alls good to go no matter

I would like to know if the crash free bios tool would pull that out and treat a unsupported cpu under the bios you have to one that you need the same as repairing a corrupted one ?/

in theory it seems like it would do it ??? if I had 1/2 of blackbirds money I would buy a board and a cpu and see just for fun [lol ] toms should try it on there next asus board with that feature they review just put that utility to the test
