I recently purchased a second hand printer, an HP Laserjet 9040n. I have it hooked up with ethernet to a switch, which is wired to my router. I'm trying to connect to my laptop, a Dell Inspiron running Windows 8. I'm having a hard time setting up the printer, and haven't found a solution to even discover the printer on my network. Does anyone have with this, or a similar printer, have a solution? I've got all network sharing (to the best of my knowledge) turned on, everything is turned on and plugged in properly, and all of the supposed drivers from HP installed.

The switch and port is working, and I've replaced the cables as well to try that, as well as hooking it directly into the router. The network settings on the printer are what my only conclusion is, but I don't know enough to know if they are correct or not. Can you guide me as to what to be looking for?
