hello. good morning to my side of the globe,

just wanna ask is it ok if i trade my current mobo to a z170 mobo? my cpu is an i5-6500. im quite confuse on this. cuz first i like my b150. its a 10phase b150 board. its a straight swap.

is it a good deal or should i stick to my b150 pro gaming? thanks to all

Well the Z170 is a more feature rich chipset but it depends on the model as to which features are available. Does the z170 model you want to trade for have some feature you are lacking and that is why you are doing the trade? If not why are you doing the trade?

It will be a little bit of a hassle for you. Most likely you will need to reinstall your O/S and if you have an OEM version you will have to buy a new copy.

If you have your heart on upgrading your motherboard I'd go for a new Kaby Lake version like the B250 or Z270. They can run your current CPU and gives you the option to go Kaby Lake any time plus they have more PCI-E lanes and other features.

the reason to swap is just to have z150 board. but my doubt is not that i dont have an unlock CPU but i dont mainly use the other featured benefit from the board.

my rig is:

i5-6500
8gb ddr4 2133 memory
240gb sandisk ultra II SSD
1tg HDD
Seasonic m12 620w psu
palit gtx 960 2gb GPU

thats it.
i dont raid, planning to use m.2 but my board also supports it.

yeah your right. the main reason just for this swap. its a straight swap i dont have to add anything. other than that. i have no reason. just to have a z170 board :)

There is an old saying ... "if it ain't broke don't fix it". If your system is working fine don't give Murphy the chance to mess it up. I wouldn't do it if I was you.
