I have a 1.5 tb seagate external hard drive that i need to erase to hook up to my dish dvr to transfer my recordings I bought the hard drive used n dont know whats on it as far as files or data to remove it all n dont have a computer to do it with..there's no buttons or wnything on hard drive just usb n place for ac adapter?

If you read the Dish documentation on using an external drive, it looks like it will format the drive for use with the system. https://www.mydish.com/support/products/vip/how-to/setup/receiver-to-ehd
