Could semi passive cooling work for an OC i5-66K

I'm in progress of planning out my next build and have decided on the Silverstone Sugo SG-08 for my case. In this case you have a big case fan that blows air right on top of the CPU. There is ~120mm clearance between the CPU and the intake fan.

My first idea was to install a low profile CPU cooler that blows, like a Noctua NH-C14S. But it seems kinda silly to me that you would have 2 fans sitting pretty much on top of each other. Then I saw this: ARCTIC Alpine M1

So that got me thinking: what if I just connect the intake fan to the CPU header and blow air directly onto the passive cooler. Would that work? Has anyone ever tried something like that? The passive cooler is 70mm high so there would be 50mm of empty space between the fan and the cooler.

The CPU I would be using is an i5-6600K, and may do overclocking in the future.
I haven't decided on the size of the case fan yet, it would be either 180mm or 140mm.

Solution
It will probably keep it cool for normal every day use but i wouldn't risk doing anything load heavy with it (Gaming, Rendering etc.) and i would strongly advise against overclocking with a passive cooler, some purpose built air coolers struggle to keep OC'd CPU's cool.
