i recently bought a PNY turbo attache four 128gb flash drive off of eBay from a reputable seller.

https://www.pny.com/turbo-attache-4-usb-flash-drive-black

it worked well for about a week, but then one day when i was formating some partitions (specifically, resizing some previously made partitions) on Linux with the application GParted, the operation froze in place, and the drive's light (the one that shows you when data is being written), started slowly flashing on and off, kind of like a power light acts when your computer goes to sleep.

it then started going through a cycle of doing that slow flashing thing about 3-4 times, and then rapidly flashing like it should when writing data, and then the slow flashing again, and etc.

after a couple of hours, i tried to cancel the operation, and that didn't work, so i tried to restart the system, and that didn't work. i had to rip the drive out of my laptop to get the system to restart.

now, whenever i try to use the drive, it goes through that weird cycle, which makes any task with the drive take 20-30 times longer than it should. (that might be an exaggeration, i haven't timed it, but you get the idea)

this happens on both Linux and windows.

it looks to me like this means the drive is somehow going to sleep while writing data.

any info would be helpful. hoping for a cut and dry solution, but anything would help.
