Hi ! I need to upgrade my GPU and I am stuck between RX 480 and GTX 1060.. I saw that AMD Improved their drivers and most of the users in the forum/s said that rx 480 is more future proof because of the 8 GB VRam and the better Performance in DX12, other said that GTX 1060 is better in DX11 (After the driver update I think AMD closed the gap in DX11) .
*I want to buy something that I can use for more than 3 years (budget rules)*
*RX 480 is ~10 EUR cheaper here*

the 1060 Xtreme Gaming is heavily overpriced for it's perfromance
the G1.Gaming performs just the same and is usually cheaper

as for performance, it doesn't really matter imo. both cards perform the same overall.
the 1060 are a bit quieter and run a bit cooler
personally I hate the NVIDIA drivers, every update something's off from my previous settings. never had that problem with AMD. but I'm not a representative croud.

I'd go with what you like better personally.
in terms of future proofing and performance it's basically just a decision of taste and money, rather than one over the other

Depends on what you want to play. Some games prefer Nvidia cards over AMD. Another thing is you can use crossfire with the 480, and the 1060 doesn't have the option to use SLI, so if you wanted to add another card later you couldn't if you got the 1060. In general the 1060 is going to perform better.

I wouldn't count on using GPU for more then 3 years - they are made so fragile this days. Sure it can happen it will work longer, but that's not guaranteed. Unless you go for Zotac GPU, they give 5 years guaranty.

Personally I would go with the RX 480. It cost less, for the most part has better DX12 performance, more vram, and has Crossfire/multi-GPU capability. In other words it is a little more future proof. The GTX 1060 will perform a little better in DX11, but cost more, has less vram, and no SLI/multi-GPU capability. I think it is a great short term solution if you can find a good deal and play a lot of DX11 games, but if you want to use it for 3 years I think it will lose it's value faster.
