i am having trouble figuring out what to do. i recently upgraded my motherboard, graphics card and processor. i didn't have a copy of windows 7 at the ready so i slapped my hard drive in and now im getting a blue screen that says bad_pool_caller, System_service_exception. i've read around and tried using blue screen view but my pc doesn't seem to be creating the minidumps. i checked to see that it was enabled but still no dumps. my question is how do i resolve these blue screens without reformatting?

You buy yourself a copy of Windows and install it is probably the answer even though it's not what you want to hear.
Odds are that your existing copy of windows came with your old PC and is not transferable to a new motherbd/system; It will not activate with Microsoft. I'm guessing that the HDD you are using came from a Pre-built like HP or Dell.

If you have a copy of windows that can be moved then you can download and create a win7 install disk or flashdrive right from Microsoft. You will need the product Key though.

You can do a re-install of the Windows 7 operating system to correct the problem.

You'll have 30 days before activation is required, although you'll get reminders on your desktop every now and then to activate before the 30 days. That's Microsoft being a pest!!!
