There was a new driver update for Nvidia. So I installed it. I guess it didn't install properly because after downloading it, none of my games would run or they would freeze. So I assumed it was a problem with the drivers so I tried to re-install them. That didn't work and it sent me to a link on what to troubleshoot. So I tried all possible options the page had to display and ended up deleting all my drivers because that's what it said to do. Unfortunately, the drivers still wouldn't install and I'm pretty sure something is wrong the actual card itself. Windows recognizes that a Nvidia chipset is there but it doesn't use it.
I even tried changing the PCI unit and same result
Any help would be apreciated

Get the latest drivers from Nvidia (don't get GeForce Experience or anything; just the drivers).

Did you uninstall Nvidia from inside Control Panel's "Add/ Remove Programs"? If yes, right click My Computer, select "Manage", select "Device Manager", expand "Display Adapters", right click your graphics card and uninstall it.

After this start the driver installation and select "Custom Installation". Select JUST the drivers, the physX drivers and whatever drivers you know you truly need (although I presume you just need the aforementioned two). Do the install; the end.

Background:
My PC was running kinda slowly with starting Windows, starting games would give me a 5-10 second black screen, etc.; and I also had errors when trying to update my Nvidia drivers and trying to start GeForce Experience would give an error. The above solution worked for me and cleared up everything.

So I did that and the drivers still will not install. It checks system compatibility and that's fine, but once it starts installing it fails after like 30 seconds. If I go to device manager it says that there is a video controller (VGA compatible) plugged into the first PCI slot. (where my graphics card is) and if I run dxdiag it shows that there's a Nvidia chip type connected however the device name is "Microsoft basic display driver" so the computer recognizes that the device is there, but it won't let the drivers install for some reason.
